Rondo goes Prime-Time:
The Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards!  7PM Saturday night

David Colton and the Rondo crew return to hand out the knotty noggins for the Sixth Annual Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards, a fan-based survey of the classic horror community sponsored by the Classic Horror Film Board website.

This year’s  email-only vote was the biggest classic horror fan survey in online history (!) and the winners included a DVD restoration of the silent vampire film, Nosferatu, a mammoth biography of Italian director Mario Bava, a collection of obscure 1940s horror films and a grisly updating of Halloween by director Rob Zombie.

Quite a few winners make it a point to attend WonderFest each year, so you never know who (or what) might shamble through the door in search of horror’s highest honor.

Then later, there's...

in 3-D and 4-D!!!!

8:30PM Saturday night

Sure, we making a big deal about celebrating the 40th Anniversaries of both 2001 and Planet of the Apes— but these nice little efforts pale in comparison to the jaw-dropping might of 1953’s ROBOT MONSTER!!!

Belly laughs meet stark terror as Doc Gangrene, Nurse Moan-eek, Bob Burns and musical guests The Exotic Ones  pay tribute to the galactic gorilla Ro-man (who will appear LIVE, wearing his “very” original helmet thanks to Bob) and will sacrifice a beautiful woman—and all that remains of their human dignity—in an astounding orgy of stock footage and bubble machine menace!

Sunday night at 7:30PM at the ExecWest Hotel:

Cookout on Clavius Base

It's an indoor "cookout" as WonderFest goes casual for this year’s afterparty!

It’s a space-themed affair this July as we host a more laid-back gathering of friends, fans, guests and ape captors with a cookout at the Exec West.
Ice-cold beer and chilled wines will wash down a summery repast of hors d’oeuvres, burgers and dogs as we get together for laughs, awards and fond farewells—plus the obligatory cash bar!

Photo of HAL eyeThen comes a casual but out-of-this-world program...

First, WonderFest welcomes Visual Effects Historian Gene Kozicki, who will present a special ‘behind the scenes look’ at the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Gene works for Rhythm & Hues Studios in L.A. and is a Board Member of the Visual Effects Society. He’ll be bringing with him a selection of imagery from several private archives.

Next, Bob and Kathy Burns will premiere The Cartoon Adventures of Major Mars-The Lost Episode—a Hanna Barbera-styled take on everyone’s favorite rocket-propelled serial hero, and a sneak peak at the 3-D(!) bio-pic about their life as well. 3-D glasses will be provided! We’ll also celebrate the 75th birthday of a certain special simian pal of theirs as well!

Tickets are $20 per person and include food and one drink at the cash bar. Tickets will be sold only at the Admissions Booth at the show on a first-come basis. No mail-order sales. Space will be limited!
