Badger and Black Heart have sponsored or hosted nearly 20 modeling classes at horror and model kit conventions around the country over the last few years. This year, 2015, in addition to airbrushing and traditional model finishing, we are going to introduce participants to a painting medium that might be unfamiliar to many Garage Kit artists.
Headlining the class will be artist/designer/painter/sculptor Casey Love and Black Heart’s owner, George Stephenson, nearly 50 years of model design, production and finishing between them. The class will spend significant time and instruction on painting techniques and colors to achieve realistic eyes and fleshtones, the most challenging aspects of figure model finishing.
The painting subject will be Black Heart’s H.R. Giger Tribute Bust sculpted by Thomas Chouinard featuring Giger’s 1/3 scale portrait and the base comprised of elements based on Giger’s paintings, drawings, sculptures and designs for the film and music industries.
The class will run from 10am to 3pm on Friday May 29th.
This is the first time a Badger/Black Heart class has featured one of Black Heart’s tribute busts. But what makes it more unique is that participants will be introduced to metallic paint waxes to pay tribute to Giger’s affinity for biomechanical designs. A simple and classy approach to metallic finishing.
Badger’s Velocity Airbrush with over-sized paint cup; Badger paint; a Badger compressor; Giger bust; two paint wax sets with assorted metallic colors; and 5 hours of instruction from headliners (and knowledgeable assistants, Mike “The Modeler” Reagan and Badger Air-Brush Co. owner, Ken Schlotfeldt).
Everything in Option A listed above except the compressor.
Space in this class will be limited to 16 people. Paypal accepted at
